So many Visitors yet ................

I can see so many visitors from Malaysia visiting this Blog the last couples of days, yet there is no comment to the post of MSSM Bombshell!

School is where the beginning of Malaysian sports and without the proper development of sports in school we can all kiss goodbye to whatever future champions that the school may produce and thus the end of Malaysian sport.

No matter how rich a person is, without real sport development in the school, you are only wasting your time and money coz it will do no good to the children.

Now is the time for all of us to make our stand and post our views, even if you agree with the ammount of funds allocated by the Ministry to MSSM and that Tenpin Bowling will not be contested in this year's MSSM carnival.

Don't just waste your time making your comments during your teh tarik or smoking sessions. Yes,especially during Smoking Sessions in Bowling Alley's Smoking Room. I have heard so many of you stating your strong comments against this decision by the Ministy coz I was also in the smoking room during the just concluded National Close.

Come on Malaysian be brave, a platform is provided here make good use of it. Like I said even if you do agree with the Ministry decision we would like to read your thoughts!

My appologies if this kinda sound a little provocative, but sometimes this is what Malaysian needs so that they will come out from their shell and comfort zone!

Indeed it is a sad thing to happen and it come at a time when our TPM said that sport will be a mandatory 'koku' in the school.
The people at the Jabatan is just plain simple you cut the budget and I cutthe no. fo sports....no inititative at all...work without passion, and I just wonder how many of them had scored at their annual appraisal.
Just wonder what was the criteria used in deciding which sports to cut as I am making a comparison on the inclusion of golf in the calendar.
I love the speech of the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports during the opening of the recent National Closed...well, he is just a plain politician who talk to please the audience.
Wonder whether can MSSM franchise the organizing of the various sports. They just endorsed/sanctioned it and let the private sectororganizing it?

As reported in the Star January 8, 2010, the Education Ministry has dropped a bombshell just eight days into the new year by slashing the annual allocation of RM6mil to RM1.5mil to the Malaysian Schools Sports Council (MSSM), thus forcing the council to cut down on the number of sports in the calendar.

Until last year, the Education Ministry had provided RM6mil annually to the MSSM. A total 24 sports, catering for the Under-12, Under-15 and Under-18 were under the program.

On the same day, the Malay Mail reported that the Sports, Arts and Co-curriculum department director Jame @ Maikal Alip stressed that the running of sports at other levels (schools, districts and states) will not be disrupted as the ministry host the Asean Schools Championship from July 12-21 in Kuala Lumpur.

"Yes, we are on a tight budget as we are playing host to the Asean Schools championship. It is expected to cost RM5.5 million," said Jame.

Another report in the Berita Harian, Jame Alip was quoted mentioning about getting sponsors to ensure that the 11”executed” sports would be able to be added on to MSSM.

I am sure that all of us know a little bit of additions and subtractions. The balance of RM5.5 millions that was due to MSSM was given away to host the Asean School Championship.

My first question is who is responsible with the organizing the Asean School Championship? If it is the Ministry of Education, then which department within the Ministry is responsible? These people involved, should be terminated from their services, for not knowing national priority!

My second question is why has the cost to host the Asean School Championship come at the expense of OUR local schools sports? If we DO NOT have the money to host the inaugural Asean School Championship, why bid for it or accept to host it?

This is doing things without thinking. I for one do not agree having these people in the Ministry, charting the education of my children.

If you don’t know how to do it, I will tell you how. Go out there and get sponsorship to finance the Asean School Championship.Do not use the RM6 million, normally provided to MSSM, meant to finance our own internal annual MSSM Championship.

Our DPM, in the early days of being appointed as the Education Minister, had stressed that sports in school will be given top priority. One year after his appointment, this blunder happens. Wonder whether he knows what his officers are doing, to contradict his statement.

The glitter of a Gold medal at the Vientiane SEA Games, brought home by the Malaysian Under-23 Football team, a Football Development Fund was born with RM10 million injected into it by the government. Congratulations to our young boys! However, I am very sure that this fund was never budgeted for by the Government. Nevertheless, the fund was provided. This was all due to proper request and proper appeal to the Government.

This should have been thought of by the organizing committee’s think-tanks for the Asean School Championship, prior to bidding and/or accepting to host the Games. It all boils down to planning and more planning!

As the Administrator of this Blog and appointing myself to represent all school children and parents of these children, who excels in all the “executed” 11 sport, would like to appeal to our YB The Minister of Youth and Sport, to step in a little bit and help us out. I know that you receive all comments from this Blog, since you have asked that your email be kept in the mailing list.

I do not know what help to ask you YB, but I believed that you will know how to help.

School is where the beginning of Malaysian sports is and without the proper development of sports in school we can all kiss good-bye to whatever future champions that our schools can produce and thus the end of Malaysian sport. I am very sure that as the sport Minister, you do not want this to happen. You and your Ministry can step in, to ensure that the MSSM for the year 2010 will be contested, as it has been done all these years.

Glad to know that the Sports Minister is interested in what is happening...tabik YB but we need action....
Look at the recent International All Star Junior and how the Sporean dominate the junior division...we had to admit their juniors had very strong foundation.
Look at the recent British Open Squash, how Egypt dominate all division and how many Msian qualified for even the semis...please wake up..the Malaysian current world beaters will not last forever, we need development plans.

Mr. Administrator I salute you for taking the lead and I support your initiative.

Shahrul TQ for your constant support.I am just doing something which I believe in doing, especially when it benefits young children in Malaysia.

Somebody got to do it, otherwise we will have to swallow whatever is pushed down our throat, even if it is not right. To me truth will always prevail but we need to pursue them. By being quiet and not doing anything is the same as dongthe same wrong as what had been done.

The Deputy Prime Minister who is also the Education Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, is NOT aware that 11 sports have been axed from the MSSM calendar and the cut in budget.
